I wish I could give this tour more than 5 stars, because it definitely deserves it.
Our group (heavy on grad students with history degrees) was visiting Boston for a friend's wedding and wanted to do a walking tour. We did Chapter 2: Rebellion because Chapter 1 was sold-out (and we didn't know about Chapter 3 until at the end of the tour).
Ted was a fantastic tour guide; he was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, but also was a great storyteller and delivered the tour with an awesome sense of humor. He quickly picked up on our group's interest in the history, and did a great job of delving deeper into the topics for us.
The tour route is well-designed, hitting a lot of major spots while also featuring really cool side-highlights. It's a decent amount of walking, but Ted is great about stopping in spots and having the group sit down while he talks. He also stuck around after the tour and chatted with us, giving us some recommendations on dining and bars in the North End to check out.
A really awesome thing that I've not seen on other tours was Ted's use of laminated pictures, maps of Boston, and portraits of major figures like Paul Revere and John Adams. The pictures really helped provide geographic context to the story as well as helped frame Ted's narration of the events.
Ted also (and very importantly in my opinion) does a great job of telling the history from a very honest perspective, addressing the complex and oftentimes confusing nature of events at that time while still making the history fun and exciting.
Overall, Ted's tour was a major highlight of the weekend, and we couldn't recommend Hub Town Tours highly enough. I can't believe that tickets were only $35/person, as I would've paid much more for the quality of experience we received.

I am so appreciative of your thorough, and glowing, review of our time together! I have designed each of my tour chapters to be easily understandable for any level of history background, but it was a real treat sharing Chapter 2 – "Rebellion" with some graduate students of history.
My main goal as a guide is to bring visitors into the stories and personalities in Revolutionary Boston, so portraits and maps—and maybe even some propaganda, too—really help to illuminate the lives of colonial Bostonians. They were certainly an animated bunch! In addition, limiting my tours to only small groups allows everyone to see the history, up close and in vivid detail. Thank you so much for entrusting your Boston visit to Hub Town Tours!
