On an extended raft trip you will make unexpected friends, strengthen family bonds and have a shared adventure to discuss for years. It is all made possible because the extraordinary guides and owners at Mountain River Outfitters take expert care of their customers, freeing up their time to explore, interact and embrace the adventure. Wear a long sleeve, quick dry shirt, a big hat and bring a sarong to protect your legs from the sun. My key bit of advise is to bring half as much clothing a you think necessary and twice as much liquor. Sipping beer while floating the Salmon, well it just doesn’t get much better.

Challenge was to find a memorable adventure for visiting family ranging from 8 to 81, and only one full day of overlap. I couldn't have done better than a Hells Canyon jet boat trip including sturgeon and smallmouth bass fishing, booked through MRO. Our captain, Jeff Wieber was FANTASTIC! As seasoned fishermen we can attest to his knowledge and skills to get us into 3 sturgeon and releasing them unharmed. But, more important he was absolutely perfect with the 8 and 12 year old, striking just the right balance of teaching and teasing. From my 81 year old dad who was "just going to watch", but ended up on the rod for all 3 sturgeon; To my 8 year old nephew who got to feel the power of a sturgeon, caught bass, caught a catfish and got to sit in the pilot seat; all agreed it was a spectacular time. Catch a dinosaur or just enjoy the boat ride and the scenery, I'd recommend it to anyone.

We did a 4 night, 5 day rafting trip with MRO, and it was truly a blast for our entire family. My husband paddled the whole 80+ miles in a inflatable kayak, and my 12 and 14 year old daughters and I traded time between the raft and a kayak. What made this trip exceptional were the majesty of the Salmon River itself, and MRO themselves. Their guides are amazing - they took incredible care of us with 5 star meals and river guidance, and their area knowledge which included stops at a hot springs and several historical sites. We had ample opportunity to relax in the rafts and at each of the beautiful camp sites, play games, and fish. Since the gear boat was sent ahead each day, we arrived at each beach camp with our tents all set up, shade and chairs, cold drinks and appetizers on the way. The food was crazy good - fresh baked bread, steak, scallops, sushi even, and cakes baked on site! I can't say enough about how enjoyable and relaxing this trip was. We have done guided trips in Montana and Canada that we loved, but this really was the best of them all. Thank you MRO!
