Akila did an amazing job weaving the history of the area and the people of Atlanta into the tour. In particular MLK and MLK Jr, their efforts for integration, the fight against segregation & racism. As a Canadian I was horrified at how long this went on, truly horrifying and shameful part of history.
Anyway, the food was centre stage and I truly enjoyed everything. Accommodation was made for me in providing an alternate to pork at the BBQ place (yes I know, I heard how good it was trust me). I would have said that I didn't like grits well, I can tell you I can't say that now, the shrimp and grits with chicken sausage was We inspiring, truly, I could have rolled around in that sauce.
We sampled a great variety of southern food and learns a lot about the influences on the local food.
If you are in the mood for a food tour, pick this one.
Thanks for a great day Akila.
