Learn to surf in a group setting with our instructors here at Sea Maui Surf! Your group lesson will begin with a land lesson going over ocean safety and beginner level basic steps to learn everything you nee to know on your lesson! As you are in a group setting all participants must have the ability to swim and feel comfortable doing so in the ocean on their own. For participants not comfortable with their swimming abilities (or under the age of 13) We must require you to participate in a private or semi private lesson to not take away from the others experience during the group lesson.

My son went on a group lesson and had such a wonderful time that I joined him for a semi-private sesson the next day. We had a blast. The instructor was great, patient and we both had many successes. I would highly recommend this company and experience to anyone who wants to try surfing.

Very crowded bay. Kept running into all the other surf students. Teachers were nice, but it was impossible to get much coaching as there were so many students. Would not do it again.

Aloha Shana! Mahalo for taking the time to share about your experience surfing with Sea Maui Surf. We are sorry to hear that you felt the area was over crowded where we held our lessons. We do share this surf break with two other permitted surf schools for the Ka'anapali area as well as others (locals and tourists alike) wanting to surf this break. Combining this fact with one of the busiest times of the year with the holidays and New Years can indeed make this break very crowded-unfortunately this is something we have little control over! The only proactive action we can take in this situation is the amount of students and instructors we put in the water at a time- This is one of the reason we pride ourselves on keepings out class sizes at a ratio of no more than four students per one instructor as well as limiting the amount of instructors that we have in the water at certain lesson times. We do hope to have another opportunity to host you on perhaps a less busy time of year! Aloha and we hope you enjoy Maui!
