Haleakala is known for rapidly changing weather conditions and dense clouds and rain are common. As a result, clear viewing of the sunrise is not guaranteed, and the tour operates rain or shine. Refunds will be granted only when the tour is cancelled for safety reasons.
The high altitude at the summit area may complicate health conditions and breathing difficulties. Elderly visitors, pregnant women, young children, and those with respiratory or heart conditions should consult their doctor prior to touring. Walk slowly and drink water to avoid dehydration. If you have gone scuba diving, you should wait at least 72 hours before going on this tour.

Preston is very informative and considerate! Make sure you dress like if you were going to ski in Colorado. It is very cold up there. Book with Preston if you can he’s very understanding and upbeat. Although if you are traveling with those who don’t speak English it may be difficult for you to appreciate the knowledge.

Sadly we had a cloudy rainy evening with no viewable sunset. Our guide, Alfredo, still made it a lovely evening with stories to keep us entertained, safe driving, food and hot cocoa. Pickup and drop off were intuitive. We would use this group again for future tours.

Alfredo was a great tour guide! Funny, charismatic, knowledgeable, and entertaining! Although the weather was pretty bad, Alfredo was there to cheer us on and lift our spirits.
