Tour guides were great, informative, engaging, funny and made sure you remembered the landmarks to get back correctly (provide a map too)
Sunrise was an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s cold up there, so dress appropriately (long sleeve shirt/pants, sweatshirt, beanie hat).
Bike ride down was also a cool experience and the bikes (Aka the brakes on the bikes) were of good quality.
Would recommend stopping at the Kula Bistro on the way down for breakfast.
Warning: the bike ride down is not for everyone. I would consider myself as skilled on a bike, while my partner was not so comfortable. I ended up being the guide on the self-guided tour, turning around every 10 seconds to check for cars and letting my partner know when they are passing. If you are a good bike rider, then you will be fine. At the worst, you may encounter some rude locals who will yell at you and flip you off (note to locals if you happen to be reading this: we tourists stimulate your economy). The roads are very curvy, filled with switchbacks, and at times don’t have bike lanes or even shoulders. On top of that, at times, you are sharing these very same bike lane less/shoulder-less county roads with cars driving 50mph. Trust me when I say this is not for everyone.
Nonetheless, would do this again albeit with a more seasoned bike riding partner.
