The Haleiwa Express tour was recommended by the concierge at the Prince Waikiki resort, stating it was a relatively new excursion. We were looking for something to the Dole Plantation, and it did not disappoint. The tour was incredible!!! Our driver, Kalani was informative, friendly, and treated us like family. Mahalo Kalani!!! The pristine tour bus picked us up at our resort hotel, and proceeded to the Dole Plantation for the first stop. Kalani narrated the drive, indicating points of interest, history about Hawaii, and lighthearted jokes and stories. While on board we were provided a delicious snack of pineapple bread. It was light and moist, a great way to start our morning adventure. We were some of the first visitors to arrive at Dole. Our driver guided us to the ticket booth, for those interested in the train tour, maze and garden tour. This level of personalization is rarely found in large tour companies, and much appreciated. FYI - the Dole Whip is a must try!!! After time at Dole, we re-boarded to continue the trip to Haleiwa town. Kalani continued narration on the drive, explaining the pineapple growing and harvesting process, describing the small surf town of Haleiwa; and other points of interest. Once in town, he provided suggestions of the various restaurants and menus for lunch. We ate a wonderful, very filling, meal at Seven Brothers, then explored the variety of shops for the remainder of our stop. Upon our return to Honolulu, we passed several of the historic sites, including Iolani Palace. Our driver continued his wonderful storytelling about these sites and their significance to Hawaii. While a new tour, this is sure to be the most popular trip very soon. Perhaps we were spoiled by our amazing driver, but we highly recommend Haleiwa Express / Dole Plantation.
