Took my 8 year-old daughter out the other morning for the 5-hour half day trip (her 1st saltwater fishing experience). The marina and boat are beautiful. The mates on the boat were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Everything was professional and well organized from the get-go. Unfortunately, we had a pretty poor day fishing. We traveled out about 90 minutes to get to the grounds. Once we arrived, the drift was rather fast and it became difficult to hold the bottom, especially for a child 1st timer. I caught a single, small porgy, and she didn't catch anything. No one can control nature though.
We had < 3 hours of fishing time due to the longer ride out/back, which was also a bit disappointing. I realize there are reefs, wrecks, etc that the head boats target, but during a short trip, I don't understand why they just don't keep closer to shore and catch fish (regardless of size and species - all of the head boats do this, up and down the east coast).
Overall, I would highly recommend the Hubbard outfit, and will go out with them again. Next trip, I'll be doing one of the 39 or 44 hour trips. But, will take the kids on another 5 hour trip (give it a second chance) with hopes to simply catch some fish.
