There was nothing special about this tour. It was simply a bike ride with a tour guide who didn't give explanations for anything whatsoever. We paid $200 USD for 2 persons and had to pay $130 USD extra for the wine tastings, as none are included, yet you are expected to take them, as otherwise you are just sitting down while everyone completes the tasting. Also there was no food whatsoever provided in the whole tour and neither in the tastings, which is bad given you are drinking a lot of wine. The first winery tasting was indoors, in a dark place (Ghost Block), while the 2nd winery is better but twice the price of the first one, and with lower quantities of wine. The 2nd winery is nice as the tasting is outdoors. I would not recommend this tour whatsoever - it's better and cheaper to rent just the bikes and do it yourself. The guide only took us through highway roads with lots of cars and traffic.

We are so sorry to hear your tour experience fell short of your expectations. It appears you booked your experience directly through Viator and unfortunately, we do find that the booking interface is rather limiting when it comes to communicating all of our various options and services (compared to our website).
In this case, it does seem that you would have been much better suited to bike rentals, which are ideal for visitors comfortable following a map and aided by our advice and recommendations.
Tasting fees are never included upfront in our tours 1) because fees vary and we visit different wineries all the time and 2) individual guest’s fees may be waived with minimum purchase at the wineries.
Many visitors to Napa Valley are surprised to learn that local regulations prohibit wineries for selling or serving any food and that wineries must have a permit to allow picnicking. Our description of the Half-Day Tour explains this and the email confirmation goes further to advise guests to be sure to have a good breakfast (solid advice for any day of wine tasting) because no food is served other than a sports nutrition bar/snack and the tour concludes ~2-2:30pm.
The route you rode included about 5-6 miles in a designated Class II bike lane on busier roadways — including one mile on Hwy 29 — and 5-6 miles on less trafficked roads (also in a Class II bike lane). Our email confirmation discusses what the mix of roadways and riding infrastructure is like on our tours and encourages guests to call us to discuss options if they have any concern.
From our shop location in Yountville, we have access to a car-free bike path, the Napa Valley Vine Trail. On many days, our tour routes are tethered to this path but it’s also a great option for bike rental users charting their own course.
Our sincere regrets that you weren’t directed to the best experience for your day of biking in Napa Valley! We will be combing through our listings and email confirmations on Viator to see where we might be able to make improvements, as we do care about setting the right expectations for our guests and feel terrible when we miss the mark, as we clearly did for you.
