We chose the 3-hour morning excursion at 9am.
We booked it the previous afternoon, directly at the port, paying on site.
There are several boats and different companies that leave from the port, I chose them because the boat is small and I thought it would be easier to lean out to see if there were only a few of us, rather than on a huge 2-storey boat like other companies.
Unfortunately, the only flaw was that we did not understand English easily and correctly.
They gave the initial speech, we tried to understand as much as possible, then I asked the captain to speak more slowly if he had to communicate anything else because being Italian it wasn't easy for us to understand.
Basically, if you suffer from seasickness, they recommend taking medications beforehand so that they take effect as soon as necessary since the excursion lasts about 3 hours in the open sea, so it's better to organize yourself to be safe.
During the excursion we saw 2 whales and a pod with several dolphins.
We saw the first whale, we stopped and it remained for some time next to the ship, huffing and showing its back, then moving a little and emerging again, huffing and showing its back, when it submerged showing its tail we waited about 5 minutes and luckily she resurfaced immediately, then again next to the boat, then when she re-submerged we moved on for about half an hour.
We stopped again when we spotted another whale and the process was the same: it showed itself for some time next to the boat, diving a couple of times, then we returned.
An unforgettable show!
We spent 80 dollars each, around 76 euros for the excursion, but it was absolutely worth it.
