Having never kayaked, I was a bit nervous, but I ended up having a ton of fun! It definitely was a workout so if you're completely inactive the kayaking part may be a little tough, but it's definitely doable for different fitness levels. The tour started with a 45 minute drive in a van up to the beach - our guides, Jay and Dustin, were hilarious and full of tons of facts having both grown up on the island. You can tell they both love what they do and are passionate about Hawaii - I think they were fantastic guides and you're lucky to get them! After a quick kayaking tutorial we started out with a short kayak up the river, back down the river, then around the bay towards Hideaway beach (I think that's what it was called). The snorkeling was so awesome and I'm so mad I forgot my go pro. We saw multiple sea turtles (literally swam right over one) and schools of fish - you can go out pretty far with no rip tide so that was awesome. The lunch was great, then we kayaked back to the beach and had the 45 minute drive on the way back. We even stopped to feed wild boars the leftover scraps from lunch - not something I ever expected to do but super fun. We had a blast and would definitely do it again!

Aloha Laurie,
Glad you enjoyed the comedic "Jay and Dustin Show" on your recent Hanalei Blue Lagoon paddle and snorkel.
Hope you realized while Dustin and/or Jay were funning you all, that both were keeping a keen eye to safety.
Good sign you saw turtles, especially since that is the Kayak Kaua'i totem; our form of travel, while slow gets us ultimately there ...in style.
Did not know you were stopping to witness the roadside feral pig attraction. Great idea!
You got the beach name right. During the summer calm, the surf allows us to access Hideaway Beach quite frequently, for some great snorkeling.
Thanks for sharing and letting me know how "funny" like odd our guides can be.
Stay paddling.
A hui hou,
