We booked this excursion through our Go Oahu cards. The value is great however, the trip could use some improvements. THANKFULLY we choose the earliest departure as the place get's really packed! We got picked up at 6:50AM from a hotel that was a 7 minute walk from us (not bad). The driver was awesome (Cousin Nick), very informative, very friendly, talked to us on the drive about where we were going and gave a lot of helpful tips!. He made sure once we arrived we were ready to jump off the van and get our snorking started before the heards of people came. As you should know, each person over the age of 12 is required to pay the conservation site a fee of $7.50 each so be prepared for that. With the tour you get your snorkle gear included. The gear is "cleaned" but I was a little worried about it not being cleaned enough after I inspected my equipment :( of course the company tries to sell you more items once your in the van such as water proof cameras and an extra piece of equipment for the snorkle gear that supposedly keeps maximum water out of the pipe. We rented that extra piece for $3.00 each and didnt even need them so we recommend not paying the extra money.
The excursion is too long. You dont need this long to snorkle at all. After an hour, my kids (aged 14, 13, 11 and 7) were done. We sat on the beach for a while then paid to take a tram up ($1.25 each person) or you could walk for free. I packed us a lunch and took it in a cooler bag which was perfect because we had plenty of time to eat it there plus the food they sell at the snack shack is typical snackbar food (nachos, hot dogs, ice cream) and is priced $6-$120.
Even after we ate and cleaned up we still had time sitting around waiting for our driver. Way too long so plan accordingly. We were gonna call Uber to get us however, you CANNOT because you have to wait for your driver to return as that is who you get your equipment from and have to retrun it to.
The Bay is beautiful. Most imprtant things to keep in mind is getting there EARLY! When we walked out back to the top picnic area it was around 10:30 and the line was crazy long! You have to wait in that line to pay your $7.50 then in the second line (which is a lot longer and slower) to watch the 10 minute safety video.
I would recommnd the excursion, however, plan for a long tiring day.
