It was a cold and blustery night... (by Southern California standards anyway), the perfect ambiance for such a stroll. We arrived quite early to grab coffee (and make a wise stop at the loo, as we knew there would be no opportunity to do so once we started). We were the first guests to arrive, but our Ghost Host Cassius Kennedy was already in place and easy to recognize in his Wyatt Earp-like getup (the old gunslinger, in fact, came up during the tour).
Cassius warned us he'd be moving quickly, and he wasn't kidding. But this was so he would be able to get in all the good stuff in just over 2 hours.
As a historian and long-time Tour Guide in Rome, I admit that my expectations were high. Cassius easily exceeded them. He mastered the substance and nailed the style. Attentive to his group of about a dozen people, we were all captivated in the very first moments. Informative, funny, quick, responsive and fully engaged with us, he even stayed for quite some time after the tour was over to answer questions and listen to some spooky stories shared by members of the group.
Do this tour, and do it with Cassius Kennedy if you can.
