It was a perfect summer night in Flagstaff to walk around Historic Downtown and learn about the ghosts that still dwell there. My friend and I drove down from the Grand Canyon to do the 90 minute Hell’s Highway Tour with Claire. Claire is originally from the UK so still has her accent and also happens to be an amazing storyteller, so those two things really made the experience that much more enjoyable for me. I loved that we got to walk around at night, led by Claire with her dark-sky-friendly lantern and hear the stories of the people whose spirits still haunt these buildings. I go to Flagstaff pretty frequently but now see some of these buildings with new eyes because of the ghost stories I learned about on tour with Claire. They do a great job preparing you- but just wear comfortable shoes to walk around in and maybe something to drink. You don’t go into the buildings but after some of the stories Claire told, I don’t think I’d want to anyway! This is a great activity to do if you’re in Flag, or even for folks in hotter parts of AZ that are looking for a reason to escape to Northern AZ. And if you go- even if you don’t get Claire- be sure to tip your guide! The tour prices are super affordable, so you’ll have leftover for a nice tip!
