After disembarking from the ship, we met Bob. Besides ourselves, there was another couple.
Bob was very engaging and knowledgeable; since he is a Native of the island he was able to tell us numerous stories and insights into the history and current status of Hilo. As outlined in the site, we saw the Lava Forest and Rainbow Falls, and stopped and had lunch at the Macadamia Nut farm. It was lovely just having the four of us, since we were able to interact and have all of our questions answered. (We saw backroads, and even where Bob and his family live.)
The up close and personal tour is the only way to go, as compared to the big green buses at some of our other stops.
Bob, thank you for a great day, and wish we had your tour when we saw you again in Kona. Also, we hope you had a great time at the Rose Parade!
