We booked this trip several months in advance for my birthday and we had a blast!
TLDR: This tour is absolutely worth it. Book it NOW!!!!!
The tour is in an electric van (not a bus) to keep it to a nice small group. We had Tabitha as our driver and she was just amazing. We felt safe and cozy the whole trip!
All week the weather said it would be cloudy, but when we got there we discovered it might clear up. She keeps an eye on the conditions and said she tries to make a judgement call about the likelihood of seeing the Aurora and will cancel if she thinks it is a low chance. She was optimistic about our shot for the night and I am SO glad we got to go!
She was full of information during the drive out to Chenna Hot Springs Resort, organized our entry into the ice museum and Hot Spring, booked us a table for dinner (it was super packed so she waited at the restaurant for us too so we could be "in line" while we were doing the ice museum tour, and drove us back to the hotel after. During the drive home we were able to stop several times to see the Aurora at various stages, from the faintest hint of light that was hard to see all the way up to a full blown show. It was a great night, we got quite a few pictures of the northern lights, but unfortunately I couldn't get my camera to take a decent one of my sister and I in front of them. Thankfully, Tabitha came to the rescue, taking several pictures of us (individually and together) with her camera & said she would email them to us. We just got home, but I can't wait to receive those from her!
The bonus- it was after midnight when the Aurora appeared, so I got to see them on my actual birthday! :-)
I am super excited we got to see the northern lights since we were only here for 2 nights, but it was good to know Tabitha would have cancelled if she thought we probably wouldn't get to see them.
