After a change of the meeting place from the US side of the border to the Mexican side my friend and I (both early 30's, male) were initially skeptical but this turned out to be one the best tours we've been on! Our guide Victor, being a local to TJ, was really knowledgeable of the area and gave us great insights into the history and origins of TJ and surrounds at each stop. Although the tour clearly said it would be conducted in English, some people in the group showed up that could only speak Spanish - Victor did an awesome job of catering to everyone and made sure he repeated himself in both English and Spanish to keep us informed along the way. Near the end of the tour we had a tequila tasting at a local vendor with over 700 types of tequila! With a bit of a buzz on we decided to stick around after the tour. Victor escorted the rest of the group back to the front of the US border queue then came back to show us around some local bars with his manager Fernando - we had a great time and got back to the border around 10pm. I would totally recommend this tour for anyone considering going to TJ but also hesitant regarding safety. It was awesome have a local that knew the area show us that it really isn't as bad as people say. Worth every penny.
