Just a few minutes away from all the hustle and bustle of Sarasota is our favorite local beach, Turtle Beach. It is only a few short miles from the main Siesta Key beach to Turtle Beach and the Sarasota County trolley will drop you right there. Not only is this area such a beautiful and quiet place, it is also a great place to paddle!

We start on the intercostal and paddle down a short canal to the Bay. We paddle around the mangrove islands through a mangrove tunnel or two and alongside a bird rookery.

We paddle around the mangrove islands of Jim Neville Marine Preserve and then to a "secret" beach. This beach is only accessible by boat so we may have it to ourselves. Such a beautiful place for a quick swim or just stopping for a few moments to relax. You may want to stay here all day.

This location is home to all kinds of wildlife including manatees (when water temps are warm enough), dolphins, beautiful sea and shorebirds and lots of fish.

I saw the mangroves, manatees and hidden Beach kayaking trip advertised online. My friend and I signed up for it and we had an amazing time! Aaron was our guide and was very knowledgeable and helpful and made sure we were taken care of. I would highly recommend taking the time for the tour. We then went into siesta key for lunch, it was a great day!

We had a little problem with making it on time for the slot we booked. Aaron and crew accommodated us and was able sneak us into another time slot. The trip was cool, he was very informative. Going through the mangroves was really neat. And the 2person kayaks are stable enough for your chic to ride up front with out fear of flipping over, so that was a plus! A must do when on Siesta Key. Oh ya the secret beach was cool too
