Just a few minutes away from all the hustle and bustle of Sarasota is our favorite local beach, Turtle Beach. It is only a few short miles from the main Siesta Key beach to Turtle Beach and the Sarasota County trolley will drop you right there. Not only is this area such a beautiful and quiet place, it is also a great place to paddle!

We start on the intercostal and paddle down a short canal to the Bay. We paddle around the mangrove islands through a mangrove tunnel or two and alongside a bird rookery.

We paddle around the mangrove islands of Jim Neville Marine Preserve and then to a "secret" beach. This beach is only accessible by boat so we may have it to ourselves. Such a beautiful place for a quick swim or just stopping for a few moments to relax. You may want to stay here all day.

This location is home to all kinds of wildlife including manatees (when water temps are warm enough), dolphins, beautiful sea and shorebirds and lots of fish.

We did a girls trip to the Sarasota area and decided to try an outdoor adventure kayaking in the mangroves. We bought our tickets online through TripAdvisor. It was super easy to purchase. We were given a small dry-bag for wallet/keys/phone. There were bathrooms there to use before our trip and outdoor showers to rinse off our arms and legs afterwards. We had so much fun! Martha was our guide and she was *fabulous*. She‘a also a marine biologist and was so knowledgeable about all the plant and animal life. We struggled a little to get our rhythm together in two tandem kayaks for our group of four, but honestly that was part of the fun figuring it out. We saw so much wildlife! A small group of cormorants followed our kayaks, diving around us catching fish, and they were really fun to watch. We also saw egrets, herons, osprey, little crabs, a sea star (!!) and more. The mangrove tunnels were such a cool experience. It felt like we were in a movie from some far exotic place. It’s an experience that is great for kids, teens, families, or friends. We loved our trip. We loved Martha who was very patient and helpful. Highly recommend!

We loved this tour! Chris our guide was fantastic, we saw manatees, jellyfish, and lots of fish and builds. Mangrove tunnel was so beautiful, highlyrecommend these guys!

The tour was amazing – we never have done anything quite like it before. We have been on many kayaking adventures, but this one was so cool going through the mangrove tunnels. Martha was our guide, and she was outstanding! Very knowledgeable, had a cute sense of humor and personality. She was a great teacher and guide. We did not see any marine mammals – no dolphins or manatees. It was really more about the cool scenery, birds and other small animals. We would recommend this for anyone who enjoys kayaking and exploring unique habitats. This one was not at all rigorous, so even beginners and those not in the best shape will have a great time.
