This trip enhanced our Hawaii experience! Crew was friendly and helpful. To book this, you should be comfortable on a boat and swimming in ocean water. The boat leaves at 8:30 from the touristy area of Kailua-Kona, but passengers need to arrive at 7:45 for check-in, so plan for that. We were back on shore at 12:30. The boat ride is about an hour each way with great views of the coastline. The boat was big enough that I felt stable on the waves, but I got queasy on the ride out. It was cloudy on the day we went, and I didn't get too hot or cold on the trip. All you really need to bring is a towel and clothes over your swimsuit. For swimming, they provide fins, a quality snorkel, and a noodle for floating. The stairs leading down to the water were easy to get in/out. While snorkeling, we saw an eel, an octopus, and tons of colorful fish! It's a great location which is why it is so popular. Food provided is a morning snack of fruit and sweet bread, sandwich lunch, and plenty of beverages to keep everyone hydrated. (I still needed to eat before and after the trip.) Overall, it's a great way to spend half a day!
