This trip was WILD. Let me start by saying that the boat is small, which means your group is small (great! I love a little group!) but also the boat goes VERY fast. This is no leisure cruise. Ladies, braid your hair because it’s gonna be whipping all over your face if you don’t. If you have a hat, put it in your bag cause it’ll fly off your head otherwise.
You have the option to sit on the pontoon sides of the boat but that seemed terrifying. I wouldn’t do it, although many in our group did. ((Honestly maybe I’m just a baby about boat rides.)) I am not a parent but I think small children could possibly be terrified by how intense the boat ride was. I’m sure the captain would have slowed down if we’d requested it but our group was all young adults who were down for whatever.
But on to the snorkeling and adventure! Stop #1 was a spot off Lanai island, a protected cove where we saw loads of tropical fish. Stop #2 was at Mala Wharf off Maui, and this spot was incredible. We got to snorkel around the sunken pier and saw *at minimum* 12 sea turtles. It was amazing and I never would have known to snorkel there if they hadn’t taken us. After that snorkel, our captain said he heard there were dolphins in the area, so he set his mind on finding them. And we did! A whole huge pod of Spinner Dolphins right off the Maui coast. We followed them for about 10 minutes and lived my best life while getting to see real wild dolphins. It was incredible.
I would definitely recommend this trip. But if you’re nervous about boats, it could freak you out. And if you’ve got little kids it might be better to pick a different (slower) option. But for our group of 20 and 30 year olds, it was perfection. A highlight of our Maui honeymoon for sure.
