Very poor communication about this tour. Hudson Valley tour is advertised as lasting 9-5. I planned our day around those times as we had a flight at 8:10pm. We only visited two wineries plus a food market. I had understood we would visit several wineries. We were given way too much down time at both wineries and were not allowed to see winemaking facilities at the first, which would have been much more interesting. At the last stop, we were leaving around 4pm and told the return trip would be about 2 hrs, so a return time of 5pm was not feasible. Due to traffic, the return took almost 3 hrs and we only made our flight with 2 MINUTES to spare, which is way too stressful. I would recommend a change to the tour activities and better time management. I cannot in good faith recommend this particular tour if you have time constraints.

Hi Pamela, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. We are glad to hear you made your flight, but we are sorry to hear it was so stressful. Based on your feedback we are initiating measures to improve communication about the timing of each tour. Normally (99% of the time) the bus arrives back in NYC by 6:00 PM. For $100 you only visit two wineries plus a "surprise" which is a farm stand of sorts. The tour operator takes himself too seriously. Also, pack your own lunch. You get some sandwiches along with the wine tasting but they aren't very good. There was a food truck at one of the stops, but they had no options for my vegetarian friends. I gave it two stars instead of one because nothing went awry. Just nothing was notable. Basically, all I'm saying is that there are better tour groups out there...

Hi Dermal. I wanted to reach out and thank you for your feedback. As the tour operator, it’s my responsibility to ensure that all of our guests have a great experience on our tour. In reviewing your response I believe it points out that we need to redouble our efforts to communicate, as clearly as possible, what is included on the tour and how we strive to provide wine education as part of the program. Our online listings describe the tour as having 2 winery stops plus 1 farm market stop. We will continue to make sure this is clear, to avoid any confusion. We do not want to be viewed as taking ourselves “too seriously”, but we always want to provide interesting and educational facts about the wines during our tours! Our guests love learning about wine. During the tour, we share fun, enlightening information on the topic. I hope this came across during your day with us in a positive way. For the light bites we provide on the tour, we work with artisanal food makers in the wine country to deliver sandwiches made from locally sourced ingredients, including vegetarian options. At some stops, we provide local, artisan cheeses to go with the wine. Our marketing describes “artisan cheeses" and "finger sandwiches". Based on your feedback, we will work to clarify better that guests are welcome to bring their own snacks for the bus ride, as the food provided by the tour is not intended to be a full meal. Also, going forward we are going to inform our guests of the sources of the food and the background of the makers. It's a big part of the wine country experience. (Please note: We are not involved with any food trucks at the wineries. We agree with you that they should have vegetarian options. We'll pass along your feedback.) Hosts very friendly and caring. Bus clean, plenty of food. Overall great experience! Will repeat the tour again.
