Celebrate southeast Alaska's rich logging history on this rip-roaring good time with quality entertainment for all ages! First join the crowd and cheer as you watch the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show. The show is followed by a once in a lifetime chance to learn how to throw a double bit axe! Alaska's frontier lumberjacks battle British Columbia's premier woodsmen in a no-holds-barred competition for the title of "Bull of the Woods". Watch these world champion athletes compete in chopping, sawing, axe throwing, log rolling and a thrilling 50-foot tree climb while your host delights with lumberjack lore. Then the fun continues as you compete in a thrilling Axe Throwing Competition. You'll learn the art of throwing a 5lb double bit axe, and then after a little practice you will go head to head in a competition against other participants.

The lumberjack show was a treat! The lumberjacks' strength was a marvel and the humor weaved into their competition made the whole show so fun! The show was wheelchair/scooter accessible for our Dad, and was just a couple of blocks from the cruise dock, right on the edge of the water.

If you are looking for something to do in Ketchikan I think you will find this show highly entertaining. Years ago my cousins went to this show and I decided if I ever made it back to Ketchikan I would go. Yes at times it is corny but that shouldn't diminish the skills these competitors have. Very impressive with the axe throwing, log rolling, and sawing. I think it is reasonably priced and fun for the whole family.

On our visit to Alaska, I was badgered by my wife to visit the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan…. Worried that I was going to see a Bunch load of muscular lumberjacks with their shirts off chopping wood for an hour…. It took several weeks of pressure for me to finally give in… We got off our cruise ship the Sapphire Princess which was docked what can only be explained as on the main hughstreet… the lumberjack show was a 2 min walk. There was quite a big queue to get in , but was well organised and moved quickly. Once inside, be careful not to pick a bad seat in the middle bank of chairs as there are some metal poles which will ruin your view. The seats were ok and was good and covered from the rain, and also had overhead heating. Plenty of clean toilets available too so don’t worry. Not sure if it was a first… but you could also get beer and wine to drink for the show. The show was great fun and light hearted, and the lumberjacks properly got the crowd worked up shouting for their winning team. I have to say those guys must be super fit to do what they do … mad skills for all of them. Really enjoyed the show and the competition, and the atmosphere was electric. Don’t rush out as there is an opportunity to get pictures at the end and a huge gift shop. Well worth the small amount of cash for the show… Recommended
