Made in Brooklyn Tours is as good as it gets! Dom gave us a private tour of Red Hook - in 100+ degree heat - and we had an amazing time. Dom has a great sense of humor, wonderful demeanor and is incredibly well-informed about his subject matter - in this case, the Red Hook area of Brooklyn. Dom, a native of Brooklyn, is clearly passionate about his home town and it shows. He does a fantastic job of sharing interesting historical and current information about an area I had been to several times before, but not truly appreciated.
I loved the history I learned about Brooklyn on the tour, but one of the unique and special touches of the tour - that stays true to the name of the business: "Made in Brooklyn" - was the visits to local artisans and businesses. We stopped by Flickinger Glassworks and met Mssr. Flinkinger himself who was similarly good-natured and gave us a fascinating tour of his glass bending shop. (I now know where I'm getting my next wedding gifts!). We stopped for a tasty treat at Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies, and then visited a working blacksmith who showed us here wares. And of course, the tour ended with a stop at Rocky Sullivans, some locally-brewed Sixpoint beers and Red Hook Lobster Pound lobster rolls.
Definitely recommend Dom and Made in Brooklyn Tours very highly.
