What a great morning! It starts early, but after a briefing on paddling and safety, you hit the water and head out to see what wonders you might find. Along the way, John shared some great information about Hawai’i (language and culture), marine animals and just about anything you might ask. John Hess is a fantastic guide. His love and passion for sharing the ocean, it’s creatures and knowledge about both is contagious. He is genuine and really wants everyone to enjoy the experience and take something away that’s meaningful and lasting.
We saw a few whale spouts, several manta rays appeared fight between our kayaks, and then off to the reef to find fish and a turtle or two! My two boys (9,11) loved it and had a great time. I hope to go back and paddle with John again some day.
Water shoes are definitely helpful, they’ll give you all the snorkeling gear though if you need it. A hat you don’t mind getting wet, and a rash guard are also helpful.
Enjoy!
