I'm visiting my sister who lives here ( first time to Hawaii) and wanted to do something fun and memorable with my 7 year old daughter while my sister was at work. It was a first time kayaking for both of us, and we have had only a little practice snorkeling off shore. We are both good swimmers, but I was surprised how well my daughter did! The day before she was frustrated and panicking with her snorkel at the beach, ripping her mask off and coughing saying water was getting in. After a quick and simple lesson from John S. She was like a mermaid! She even would dive under the surface 4 feet for a closer look at a turtle or fish and then resurface and continue snorkeling! I was a little worried about not being able to paddle the whole time, thinking my daughter would be mostly dead weight, but again after a simple lesson from John S. she was able to help most of the time and even when she took a break I managed just fine! There was an extra photo package offered which we gladly purchased, seeing the great waterproof camera John had. I knew he'd get better shots than my cell phone in those water proof cases.
My personal experience was only slightly less magical because I got motion sickness. We had been running late so I didn't take the Dramamine or bonnine. If you get sea sick take the night before and morning of to avoid my fate! Now I am unusual and had 4 separate sick sessions, most people feel better once in the water, or after throwing up one time. I am only sharing to emphasize how kind John S. is. He was very understanding, offering advice, granola bars, water, and even offered to get me to closest beach so I could walk back if I wanted to. I toughed it out for my daughter, who had the best time of her life, but John S. really went the extra mile in making sure I was ok and had any support ( pool noodle haha) I needed. The true definitions of excellence and awesome apply here!
Thanks John S., I'm sure you've made yet another Christmas card! Can't wait to see the photos!
Forever greatful,
Connie and Arabella H.
