My manatee snorkel tour was part of the Americana dive package from American Pro Diving Center. It was on a Sunday morning and nine of us wet-suited up to attempt to swim with manatees in the spring-fed bay. There had been an instructive video at the shop prior and more briefing from the tour guide, Captain Marlon, before we entered the boat. He was able to find a manatee right away. With his coaxing and instructions, the group of nine of us was able to observe and swim alongside the manatee and her calf for about 30 minutes before they both embarked for other waters, but it seemed much longer than that. At times I hovered directly over both the mother and then her calf. There is something very satisfyingly breathtaking about doing that. Later in the tour we also saw other manatees at a distance and Marlon described the aspects of the sanctuary, canals, and lagoon. Take this trip! You'll be glad you did.

Great tour. Wetsuit, mask and snorkel rental. Good support. No French guide but we do without one. Favor morning hours.
