We chose Zip based on these TripAdvisor reviews. Unfortunately the experience did not live up to expectations. First, there are 6 seats in the helicopter and a big difference in the experience depending on which seat you’re stuck in. Two are good, on the right side of the helicopter because u see Manhattan closeup on the way up the island. The two on the left, u see New Jersey the whole time and then on the return, Manhattan is further away and you miss the upper part of the island because you’re headed back down. The middle seat just basically sucks and shouldn’t be the same price as the premium seats! The front seat next to the pilot is perhaps ok, but you don’t get to share the experience with your friends or family. The trip is advertised as 12-15 minutes. Ours was 11.9 minutes and felt really short. The flight itself was comfortable, but almost too smooth and actually kind of boring, it didn’t feel adventurous at all. If ever choosing to do this again, I would go with a company that has open doors to the helicopter, which we also saw flying around the whole day. I would also ask about the seating and make sure there is less chance of getting shafted with crap seats.

Hello John C, We are very sorry to hear about your experience. The only way to guarantee a window seat or get a seat of your choice is to book a Private Tour. Helicopter seating is arranged by weight to keep the helicopter balanced. Weight and balance affect the safe operation of our helicopters and the advanced computer system we use guarantees that we achieve this 100% of the time. At Zip Aviation, our primary responsibility to our customers is Safety. Thank you.

Disappointing and overpriced. A disappointing experience. They just play a tape explaining what you see... we would explain the Pilot to do that, to interact, talk himself, maybe some music playing in the back ground. It was very boring this way. Terribly overpriced... We were 5 and still had to add 200USD on site as heliport fee, which made the entire trip 20% more expensive in our case.

Hello LuciaLuf2, Whether you book on our website or with a Travel partners like Viator/Trip Advisor or Get-Your-Guide, the $40 Heliport Fee is disclosed front and center. Again, it is a Heliport Fee or a Facility Fee, it does not go to us, we just collect it. Some people decide it's worth it while some people decide it's too expensive. Over a decade ago we made the decision to provide narrated pre-recorded audio tours on all our flights to minimize the interaction with customers and crew. This was never meant to create distance or disconnection with customers, it was solely to provide an extra layer of safety where pilots can focus on air traffic and radio calls within the busiest airspace in the country.
