This was our first time on Maui, and we scheduled the Pineapple Tour for the beginning of the week. It was easy to locate the meeting place, and there is ample parking in front. Registration was quick, and we boarded the air conditioned bus with our fellow visitors.
Ken, our tour guide, was completely down-to-earth. We could tell that he loves his job, and he was extremely informative and energetic. The tour takes you through the rolling acres of pineapple fields, and our guide showed us the progression of the plants and how they grow. You are able to take photos at every stop, and there's an opportunity to taste the freshly picked pineapple from the field.
The tour concludes with a brief tour of the factory where the pineapples are packaged. As a perk, each member of the tour receives their own freshly picked, packaged, pineapple to take home on the plane. We learned so much from our tour guide, and we thoroughly enjoyed our fresh pineapple once we returned home.
Tips: There are clean restrooms at the meeting facility, so you should use those before getting on the bus. Water is provided as part of the tour. Make sure you wear sunscreen and a hat.
