Island Wings takes the time and makes the effort to help you realize your Alaskan dreams. Share our love of flying through our vast Alaskan wilderness. Experience the freedom of flight over the wild grandeur of the mountains, the islands and the endless sea. Our focus is the quality of your experience. From the handling of your reservation, to the equipment we operate, to the places we visit; we don't compromise and neither should you. The total time for this tour is 2.5 hours including: the two hour flightseeing tour and fifteen minutes for the pick-up and fifteen minutes for the drop-off. This tour takes you on a flight from Ketchikan to the Misty Fjords National Monument with a landing on a freshwater lake or a saltwater fjord with approximately a thirty minute stopover.

This is a small business, owned and run by the pilot herself. If you are doing a float plane trip out of Ketchikan to view Misty Valley Fjords or salmon "fishing" by the bears (or to charter her for your own salmon fishing excursion, etc.) - she is the best way to go. If you are arriving by cruise ship, do your own booking with them (Island Wings Air Service); don't book the cruise lines excursion. You will get a more personal, not mass-market experience. She has been doing this for many years - is very experienced and well informed. It is also wonderful to support a small-business operator.

You must do it with Michelle from Island Wings Air Service. A very experienced pilot and views you will never forget. With this company you get to land in Misty Fjord which you are unable to do with the other float plane companies that the cruise will book for you. A truly memorable day! Michelle is indeed a fantastic pilot!

We booked the Misty Fjord trip with Island Wings Air Service independently via their website after reviewing the Celebrity cruise options and are very pleased we did. The weather was great, we were picked up on time at the dock and were shortly in the floatplane - 'Lady Ellen'. We have flown in light aircraft in many places across the world and this was by far the best aircraft to date. It is very sturdy, immaculately kept both inside and out and Michelle is a superb pilot. The take off was much smoother than we expected and the views really great. We were given a very informative commentary by Michelle and the whole flight was a real joy - all too soon (45 minutes in reality) we were landing on Misty Fjord and alighting for a walkabout (the trips via the cruise lines do not normally allow you to get out here - you just drift about for 10 minutes then take off again). Michelle took very good photos of us then all too soon we were taking off for the trip home. We cannot recommend this trip highly enough - it was less costly than the cruise lines and longer in duration - Michelle and her crew are really friendly and we were made to feel at home from start to finish. This trip is really good value and not to be missed .
