The 4x4 Extended backcountry tour offers all Highlight stops and additional stops that are not covered in the regular backcountry tour. Spend more time with your Navajo guide and indulge in an experience that uncovers the secrets, myths, and legends of the Navajo Culture. Navigate through 28 miles of Monument Valley's Finest spectacles where movies, commercials, and performances were made. Enjoy the luxury of exploring areas that are off-limits to normal travelers; and listen and watch your guide bring the monuments to life through its history, story telling, and live performances. Enjoy a visit to a local Navajo Hogan and watch a demonstration of the art of Navajo Rug Weaving. Behind the breathtaking Mesas, Buttes, Spires, and Arches there are hidden stories waiting to be told.

The Tribal Park Admission Fee is not included. ($8 per person)

Jameson the guide was wonderful he really knew his stuff he told us factual things but he also told us spiritual things about the Dine peoples. May we all reach the enlightenment eventually. He is quite a musician also. A world-class trip it was

We tried this in 2020 and had to cancel due to CV-19 which closed the Native lands. When we knew we could go back, I rebooked this trip immediately. Our guide, Jameson, did not disappoint! If you book this trip, go inside the hotel 10-15 minutes before your scheduled departure ~ DO NOT check in outside. We had 4 couples on our trip, a perfect size, however one couple was from Italy, so Jameson made sure to check with them often to make sure they understood what he was teaching us. A big goosebump .moment was in the Rooftop Opening/Arch, when Jameson played his double flute and sang to us in Navajo. I was moved to tears and we asked him what he sings about. You'll have to take the tour to find out! We stopped by a Hogan to meet a woman who makes jewelry and her own threads for weaving and art. No pictures were allowed, unless it was a picture with her and someone from your group. Items were available for purchase from her directly *BRING CASH*. Also, it's customary to tip her after the Guide gives you a further description of the culture. James was a very attentive driver/guide. He gave up a nice, corporate job to do this and he's much more at peace. He explained to us WHY there is no cell service, electricity, water on the lands ~ again, take the tour and find out. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour if you want a smaller tour with more information than the other tours. All guides are Indigenous People and well educated on this special place.

The fact that when I went to book online It was indicated that there were no solo places available. Therefore booked two tickets as the 8.30 slot suited me . Imagine my annoyance when there were at least 6 seats free on the day. So much for the tribal honesty and principles spoken about on the tour. Definitely no tip !!

Good evening, We appreciate you leaving us a review. Our company does accept solo riders. The system allows single riders to book when an existing tour is already schedule for the date selected. If no tours were scheduled that day, then the system requires a booking of two people minimum. I will talk with management to resolve this issue.
