We took this snorkel trip yesterday, and so enjoyed the whole experience. The weather was perfect. Our captain was Charlie and he had two crew members. Before leaving the boat, CPT Charlie gave us a summary of boat features and safety. Yes, there is a bathroom on board. It was a great day to ride on the bow or on top. It takes close to an hour to reach the bay, so we had opportunity to view the shoreline, watch for whales (there was one, but it is still early for them). i enjoyed hearing from the captain about the whales' birthing, eating and behavioral habits. Crewman Seth gave us all a history of Captain Cook's arrival and demise at the hands of native Hawaiians. Your kids will enjoy the story, for sure. We did, and we aren't kids. We arrived at the bay, tugged on our masks and fins, and plunged into the 85 degree clear blue water. Seth jumped in with us and watched over and assisted those who were first timers, and herded back those who were chasing fish out too far.. The fish were plentiful. All different colors and sizes, and not at all concerned about us. He pointed eels and other interesting critters. It was disappointing that there is some coral bleaching going on here but hopefully it is on the recovery cycle. Our total swim lasted a good hour, maybe longer. The Dolphins were somewhat elusive to us outside the bay this day, but maybe we'll catch them the next time out. There was a group inside the bay; however, it was important to respect Hawaiian law to respect their space, so we did not approach. We were treated to light snacks, fresh cut pineapple and water and soft drinks. Don't forget to bring your towels. Enjoy!
