Enjoy the stories on a walking tour through New Orleans’ elegant 19th Century garden neighborhood. You will get to look through the gates at Lafayette Cemetery #1, currently closed to the public. This neighborhood and its cemetery tells the story of New Orleans from the Louisiana Purchase to the Civil War. Stunning antebellum mansions, lush gardens, unforgettable stories, and beautiful photo opportunities await! We keep our group size under 12 guests to make in a fun, personal experience.

I've been on many walking tours in many cities and had some really good ones as well a mediocre ones. Josh was the BEST! Josh was super knowledgeable on his historical facts on our Garden District tour. He was able to provide a very personalized experience and had a great sense of humor as well. By the end, you actually felt like you were close friends with him, as well, his knowledge on world history, as he hails from Belgium, was excellent, which made additional questions and conversations on the tour that much more enjoyable. He even dispelled some myths on supposed facts that had been provided on other tours from the past. I would highly recommend this tour and request Josh whenever possible if you don't want just a run of the mill experience.

Yes, we agree. Josh is the BEST! Belgium-born, he has found his home here in New Orleans, where he has immersed himself in learning about the history, culture, architecture, customs, and stories of this town. He respects the truth, and knows that the true stories are even better than the made-up ones. I am happy that you noticed the connection of New Orleans to world history; many people don't realize what a major player New Orleans was before the Civil War when the Garden District was established, and, because of the petroleum industry, is now. Please come walk with us again - Josh does French Quarter tours, too! Libby

Josh was very informative providing history, celebrity homes and architectural facts. The pace was perfect for walking around the garden diustrict. There was plenty of time for questions.

Thanks for this excellent review! The Garden District is much quieter and more peaceful than the French Quarter, and the pace is automatically slower. However, that does not in any way mean that the stories aren't fascinating. The Garden District was built by speculators, dreamers, schemers, immigrants, and celebrities, and we love to tell all the best stories to our guests! Although we are no longer able to enter the cemetery, we are able to look in the gate and tell about the interesting things we do with the dead. I am so happy that you enjoyed your tour with Josh, and we hope to see you again. Libby

Libby is a local through-and-through and that is who you want leading this kind of tour! She was so great - super informative, friendly, funny and absolutely bursting with fascinating history and tidbits about the area and specific houses on the tour. We had such a great experience with her and highly recommend her tour!!
