Our family selected this activity, as I had done this many years ago and thought it was fun. We had my 7 year old grandson along who was very excited to hear about ghosts and spooky things. Unfortunately, our tour guide was more focused on excessive historical details, and the spookiness got lost. My grandson said he didn't like it at all. Worst of all, the tour was more talk than carriage ride. The driver would take us down a block, pull to the side, and then talk for a long time. It was a very hot and humid evening and we were very uncomfortable with no air flow. I'm from Houston and used to humidity, but sitting still with no air flow with someone going on and on about historical details was not fun. I tried to give a hint that we needed to move on by fanning myself with a paper, but the hint was not taken. The driver drove another block and pulled over and talked a long time again. That didn't really feel like a carriage ride. The other factor that detracted from this activity was that these types of tours have become so popular that along the route, our driver had to speak loudly to drown out the many walking tours that were in progress, each with a loud tour guide. Some of the information was interesting, but it really felt more like a history class outside on a miserably humid night. I'm sorry we spent so much money on this.
