We were a group of four on a Saturday food tour. My husband and I took a tour with RI Red a few years ago and were eager to do it again with my sister in law and her partner on their first visit to Newport. Our tour guide, CC, was great! She was friendly, outgoing and informative. I loved that she grew up in Newport and shared some personal stories as well. We hit 6 spots (4 different ones than last time which was nice). Our favorites were Nitro Bar and Perro Salado-delish! We were disappointed by the last stop at Stoneacre where we had a very mediocre coconut custard and whipped cream. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to venture out of the usual tourist traps and hit up some neighborhood gems for some Newport noshing!

Thank you so much for taking our food tour once again! We really appreciate our return guests who take our tours multiple times and try our different offerings. Our tastings do change sometimes depending on what is in season or if there is a new restaurant in the neighborhood we want to try. We don't expect that everyone will like everything, some days everyone on the tour particularly likes one thing, the next day it's a surprise with something entirely different. The final tasting may not have been your favorite, we understand. We chose it because it was a sweet ending which we wouldn't have otherwise. The tour tastings are generally meant to be an introduction to the restaurant with the hope you will explore their menu further and come back for cocktails or dinner. Otherwise, it sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed the tour with CC. Thank you again for supporting us and introducing your friends to our tours!

This tour was a gift. We are 65...if that makes a difference. We walked around Newport and got to see the other side of it. NOT the touristy places, but the places that mom and pop opened up. The places that many of us would prefer to go to to see what life is really like. Elise did a phenomenal job of explaining to us about the history of the places we went to. We got to hear about some history of Newport that...I am sure...nobody is familiar with. Elise kept her enthusiasm up and had a smile on the whole time.Food was great. I especially enjoyed Yagi's Noodles and their COLD saki. Certainly worth going to. One question I did NOT ask was if the eateries change at all. If we go next year, will we see the same places? How about next month? IMO...it was a very enjoyable afternoon.

Thank you so much for taking our tour! Food tours make great gifts, we're thrilled you enjoyed it so much. The restaurants and tastings do change from time to time when new restaurants become available or seasonal changes sometimes in the menu. We do have a couple of places that are consistently on the tour because they have been guest favorites. It is possible we may have one new restaurant on the tour next month but we don't know for sure yet, if not it will be next year. Since we try to keep the walking to a reasonable amount we do have some limitations but every restaurant we choose is chosen for a specific reason one being it has to have a local RI connection or story and not be a chain. So you never know! I would suggest you also consider taking our Providence tour which is very different and equally as enjoyable. Thank you again for taking the tour!

Thank you Charlene for taking our tour. We always love to see RI'ers taking and sharing our tours with family and friends. They definitely are tougher critics though, maybe because they are well aware of all the great eateries around the state but it is hard to pick just 6. There are many reasons we pick the restaurants and tastings we do, it is not as easy as you would think. On this particular tour we chose to introduce our guests to the other side of Newport where the locals go, to off-the-beaten-path eateries, and show the diversity in a different part of the city where tourists may not know to go. It is hard to understand why you gave a 3-star review here since you didn’t reach out to us to let us know you were this unhappy with the experience, which of course would be our preference. Particularly, since you are a restaurant manager yourself you recognize that reviews are very important to a small business. You should know we do our best to create an overall enjoyable experience for our guests which judging by our reviews our guests have appreciated over the last 8 years. If you would like to discuss what exactly it was that may have not met your expectations, I’m always open to learning from my guests in a reasonable manner. I recognize we all have different expectations and levels of taste and we are not going to please everyone, though we try 😊.
