This trip was amazing! My family and I have never scuba dived before but now we’re looking at getting certified because we all loved it so much. Our guides Ben and Josh were both very patient, informative and made sure everyone was aware of safety precautions as well as making sure everyone had a great time.
Make sure everyone in your group has at least a basic understanding of how to swim. I think it would be difficult to do this if you don’t know how. The ages of the people in our tour group ranged from 13-57 and everyone seemed to enjoy their time in the water. The gear is rather heavy, about 40 lbs, and there was a slight walk from the parking lot to the shore where we entered.
I wore a long sleeved quick dry material shirt and it was comfortable with all of the gear on and in/out of the water. One in our group had a regular swimsuit top and the gear didn’t bug her too much but it did rub in some areas during the hike to and from the water. The gear rests on you like a backpack, so it’s your preference on how covered you would like to be.
I brought an underwater disposable camera and the pictures turned out great! The guides made sure to let me know not to use the camera until I was absolutely comfortable, so if you bring one give it to someone who will be able to discern if they should use it or not.
The guides did a good job of pointing out the wildlife so our group didn’t miss anything. We saw lots of crabs, a variety of fish, anemones, sea urchins and more. This was a great experience and we’re glad we did it. We can’t wait to get certified and come back for their different dives!
