The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long elevated park, greenway built on a historic, elevated freight line. The High Line is a public park programmed, maintained, and operated by Friends of the High Line, in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. View art, walk through gardens, experience a performance, enjoy delicious food.

The southern end of the park is shaded by gray birch and serviceberry trees. Washington Grasslands & Woodland Edge section is full of grasses, perennials, and woody species that tolerate the shade of the surrounding buildings.

The Vessel “New York’s Staircase,” 154 interconnecting flights of stairs, 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings. Built bronzed steel located in the center of Hudson Yards. This honey comb shaped 150' tall art piece can accommodate up to 1000 people at a time. The tour end near the Vessel.

The Vessel is an interesting construction. You get your free tickets onsite, wait your allocated time to go in and climb a few stairs in order to go up and watch the Hudson and some parts of the city. There is an upscale mall close to it. You can visit it while waiting for you time to enter the Vessel.

I visited the Vessel in Hudson Yards about two weeks ago with my husband and another couple We are all senior citizens and I am disabled. The Vessel is an outdoor interactive sculpture with many stairs and is meant to be climbed on by visitors I checked on line and found that tickets had been distributed for 2 weeks in advance but that some could be obtained on line at 8am on the day of a visit. We decided to walk over and check out the scene. It was a dreary sprinkling Sunday and we found that they had tickets for an hour later so we were able to get some. We also found that there is an elevator for disabled visitors, which meant I could also enjoy the Vessel. My friend and I rode up the elevator while our husbands climbed the stairs. We all enjoyed the view and had a good time, although we agreed that it would have been nicer on a sunny day. The tickets by the way, are free.

My wife and I were able to get tickets to walk up the stairs of the Vessel two weeks ago. Tickets are free, but I guess they want to be able to limit the crowd on the structure. The Vessel is amazing! With shiny copper colored exterior, you can see yourself in the sections above you. While it has thousands of stairs, you don’t really climb every one. You walk up each section and go around it as you go up. The view is amazing and all the new sky scrapers around it are beautiful. The multi-story shopping mall in one of the high rises is first class all the way. Beautiul finishes, beautiful stores. Really great. The Shed next door is an entertainment venue with a sliding roof. We didn’t have time to check it out. This is an amazing attraction in a new development.
