I think this activity depends on who you go with or who’s on your boat. We went on the 90 min whale watching ride and it was a very small, quiet group just happy to sit, enjoy the view and sunshine. I’m sure other boat rides have more of a party atmosphere as there is a bar on the boat. The whale tour basically sticks to the coast of Waikiki heading out toward Diamond Head and back so it provided a great backdrop to get some nice family photos. I think the odds of seeing a whale are slim but we got lucky and saw some humpbacks show their fins as they dove into the ocean. But that awesome experience was only a couple minutes of the 90 minute ride. The rest of the time was more of just a nice sail. Staff were very friendly and made the experience a lot of fun.
