The Oak Alley plantation tour is one of the most magnificent plantation tours near New Orleans because of the 28 evenly spaced, huge Oak Trees that go from the river road to the Plantation House. The Greek Revival home dates back to 1837. Located on the grounds is a restaurant, blacksmith shop, Souvenir Shop and antique farm equipment. Next up is an airboat tour - hold onto your hat! Our New Orleans Airboat Swamp Tour is a high speed adventure that is part tour and part ride. Along the way, you will get a personal tour by your local Captain. Our airboats have stadium seating, so that the person in front of you does not obstruct your view. So, every airboat seat is great for experiencing the tour and viewing the wildlife.

The Airboat Swamp ride was my favorite - saw so many alligators, bald eagle's nest, different types of birds! Our guide was the best - got us back safely after a storm came out of nowhere. Beautiful tour - would highly recommend it. The Plantation was also very informative on how everyone lived back in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

They pick you up right from your hotel in a nice bus and the whole day is very well organized, pretty much zero waiting around. But we could have used another full hour at the plantation, if you are the type of person who wants to read all of the information and see all of the buildings you won't have time with this tour. An extra hour there would have been great so we could have seen things and had time to eat lunch. We didn't eat anything the whole day basically as there just wasn't time. That said it's long day and they get you through both tours very efficiently. So for a lot of people it would probably be perfect as maybe another hour at the plantation would have made the day too long for them. For us it was too rushed, but we are read everything and see everything type of people. Zero complaints about the swamp tour portion, that was awesome, and timed perfectly.

Thank you for the positive feedback, Kelly! It is a long day when booking a combo because of the distance between each location. For future reference, you can pack your own lunch but you do have the option to grab something to-go at the plantation and we do have microwavable sandwiches and snacks at the swamp tour.

The Oak Alley Plantation was just okay. Felt rushed for that part. But the Air Boat ride was well worth it! We saw many alligators and our guide gave us a "show" with "Big Ben", one the largest too. He was very knowledgeable of the area waters, land and animals.
