This is a bucket-list kind of adventure!
Most of the people on the tour were not from the Los Angeles area, but we denizens had just never gotten around to seeing our iconic Hollywood Sign up close. Anyone can walk the four-hour-round-trip hike to The Sign (no, you can't touch it), but the special part of the tour was learning of its history (it was originally built in 1923), and the many people who saved it (e.g., Hugh Hefner for one). Griffith J. Griffith, who owned and donated the land to the city of LA known as eponymous Griffith Park ensured the land was undeveloped. Our tour guide, Harris, was exceptionally well-informed and helped us pace ourselves to the top. DON'T MISS THIS TOUR if you come to Southern California. P.S. The views were amazing.
