This was an interesting tour. I would have liked to have gone inside the Betsy Ross house - not just look in the gift shop. It is a long day and because so much ground is to be covered it is not always possible to spend as much time as I would have liked at various places. I enjoyed what we did see and am glad that I took the tour.
Long day and did`nt really see/learn much.Wasn`t comfortable with whole Amish part of trip , it was all too contrived and commercialised. Not at all what we expected, you get the feeling the Amish people have sold out their ideals .
The tour started with people milling around in the rain asking "are you going on the tour to ......?". There was no company rep to organize right up to departure time.
We were advised we'd be having breakfast in Philadelphia when we arrived, but on arrival at about 9.30am we started touring the sites. We were then sent to have 'breakfast' at 11.30. Lunch was about 3.30.
The structure of the tour was impractical.
Unfortunately, the guide wasn't particularly communicative and there were long periods of silence, time which could have been made interesting with stories of local history. The guide didn't appear to have in depth knowledge and even at times forgot which tour he was on!
The most concerning aspect was the guide's apparent lack of enthusiasm.
