I was really looking forward to this trip but was a bit disappointed with the reality. As it was low season there were only 3 of us on the tour so we went in a car which was really comfortable. The only downside was that we got to overhear the conversations between the tour guide and driver, mostly to do with how many hours work they were getting compared to other guides, about the other guides, how they could set up a far better tour business themselves and then the driver had a row on the phone with her teenage daughter as we drove back to New York. The guide really knew his stuff though and was thorough. The big disappointment was the trip to the Amish community which was why I had taken the trip. We got a buggy ride and that was it. There was a stop on the ride when an Amish man tried to sell us cookies. I expected to see around an Amish house to see how they live but once we had been on the buggy ride we went to a touristy shopping village where most people weren't Amish. There was too much time here and we were back in New York an hour earlier than scheduled even with a delay in the Lincoln Tunnel. Good day out but quite unprofessional compared to tours that I have taken in other countries.
The tours was very fulfilling... lots of things to take in. Having two translators on the tour though was very annoying. People were constantly talking when their translation had finished and were not told to be patient or quiet. I ended up tipping the lady who translated Spanish instead of English because I understood her better!
The tour guide was great and very humerous!!! He also was very informative! Awesome experience and would definitely recommend going! Bring a book along or a small blanket since it's about a 3 hour drive there and back!!!
