Photo Safari Yosemite

Our guide will meet up with your at your place of lodging or agreed upon location. You will drive your own vehicle following caravan style the guide driving their own vehicle. We use Walki-Talkies to communicate while traveling. You will visit classic sites in Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point. Photos will be made of your party and shared to you at the conclusion of the tour.

I went out with Pat for two half-day tours on July 8th and 9th. As a first-time visitor, I knew nothing about the park and Pat's knowledge and experience really gave me a great overview of the main attractions throughout Yosemite. With only a limited amount of time I was able to spend there, Pat helped me avoid searching around and hit and miss experiences that one would normally get by just stopping by the visitor center and taking a guess at what the best places to visit are. Not only did Pat take me around the park to the best sites but also at the right time of the day which is so crucial in photography. Pat spent much of his career as a professional photographer both in the navy and bay area. Not only is he knowledgeable about the park, but he is an excellent photographer and teacher. He gave me many tips about landscape and nature photography and now I have a better understanding of how not to compose a shot and not make a picture of the woods look like "a picture of the woods". I've been practicing the concepts he taught me throughout the rest of my vacation in CA. Finally, Pat is a lot of fun to be around and spend the day with. Definitely worth every penny. You will not be disappointed!

Beginning July 1st, my wife and I had basically two days to spend in Yosemite, a place that I hadn't visited for 37 years. As Yosemite was only a side trip of our travels (a family wedding was our main focus of the trip), I had forgotten to bring some of my nature photography equipment (tripod, filters, etc.). A frantic email to Pat fixed that. The next morning, Pat was waiting at our appointed meeting place with filters, tripod, even extra lenses as we both had CANON digital SLRs. It was the start of an unforgettable day, where Pat guided my wife and I in his jeep to some fantastic viewpoints, some popular, some at just the right spot off the road to get just the right angle, or framing of some of the Valley's great landmarks. We had some great conversations about Pat's past experiences as he offered some keen advice about photography. When I was busy looking for angles on my own, Pat worked with my wife and her point and shoot camera, giving her tips. But more than the photography, Pat was a great guide to the history of the park. We enjoyed a beautiful lunch and some great quiet moments, ending up high overlooking the park as the sun went down to end a glorious day.

June 25, 2013 brought a little weather. A perfect time to capture the clouds of this summer storm with rain. My daughter wanted to learn about photography, and I was fortunate to find Pat to teach her. Pat was very knowledgeable in photography and with the best photo spots in Yosemite. He is also an excellent instructor. My daughter is 17 and knew very little about photography. Pat was able to work on her understanding of lighting, composition, and bracketing. He does a great job at explaining and is very patient. Pat arrived promptly at our agreed morning meeting time. As he was driving us to Glacier Point...we were fortunate enough to photograph a cinnamon colored bear. Then we took pictures of Half Dome, bridges, flowers, trees, meadows, waterfalls and a coyote. This was a nice variety of subjects. This was a tremendous learning experience for my daughter. I thoroughly enjoyed Pat's "safari". I highly recommend this for a family activity!
