Terrible experience. Went in July, and it was the worst guided fishing trip I've ever been on. Our guide was 30 minutes late picking us up, then headed back in early. Some days the fish bite better than others, but this was all in all a bad experience and the guide didn't help at all. Very unpleasant. Didn't catch a single salmon, didn't limit on halibut.

David, It’s unfortunate to hear that you did not enjoy your experience with us. However, I do feel the trip we delivered in July is much different than the one described in this review written in December. The power of a positive attitude can go a long way on a fishing trip. Often times guests will ask how the fishing is going to go on the way out to the fishing grounds. I often tell folks that they are going to have a great trip. They ask, how do you know? I say I can tell by the attitude and the vibe of the group that the fishing is going to take care of itself today. This is often overlooked, but after 18 years of guiding, if our clients bring positive attitudes onboard, positive outcomes will happen. I have a check in and check out process with our guides. Captain Ryan, who has guided over 700 trips, was preparing his boat 45 minutes prior to the start time. He met your group at Thomas Basin Harbor as we discussed in our email. He was not late. In addition, he gave your group extra time on the water. This can be referenced on our ADFG elogbook for vessel AK 7407 on July 15. When you booked over the phone you mentioned that you would like to specifically target rockfish. I mentioned we could accommodate your request but it would take time away from other species, such as salmon. Captain Ryan successfully targeted rockfish for your group, as well as halibut, and finished up the trip focusing on salmon. The nice part about a private trip is that we are able to cater to our guests request. The vessel you were on was a brand new 2024 Raider Coastal Custom. It is fully equipped with the latest Garmin electronics, radar, and all the required safety equipment. Shimano and Penn reels and rods, Scotty electric downriggors, and powered by Suzuki 300 outboards make this one of the fastest boats in the fleet to help maximize your time on the water. At The Alaska Catch we aim to provide the best experience possible to our guests on every trip. Experienced guides along with new equipment helps give us an edge on the water. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service. If there is ever a problem or unsatisfied customer we listen, find a solution, and take care of our clients. Fishing trip of a life time, our Captain/guide Chris was awesome, very knowledgeable about the area and taught everyone onboard the proper techniques to catch fish. Took excellent care of our wives who needed extra help, would definitely recommend and would love to do this again!

What a blast. Went out fishing with captain Chris, it was my first time fishing in Alaska and to say my expectations were met would be a huge understatement. Boat was in tip top shape, excellent fishing gear and the weather was perfect. The fishing started slow but captain Chris ensured if we put in the work that we would find them. With a couple moves we were on the most incredible bite of my life catching huge halibut, ling cod and rockfish with a bonus silver salmon on the way in. On top of all of that we saw multiple whales, a school of dall head porpoise, sea lions and sea otters. I would 10/10 recommend this excursion to anyone who enjoys the great outdoors and is looking for an amazing Alaskan experience. Huge THANK YOU to captain Chris & Mike I will be back!
