For our last night in NYC for our once in a lifetime trip i asked the concierge team at The Pierre, where we were staying, to arrange a bespoke tour of the city taking in lights, sights and some hidden gems. We met Katherine, our guide, in the lobby and her enthusiasm for the evening was infectious. She had put considerable thought into making it special and worked really well with the driver, Arkady, of Da Vinci Limos (see separate review for this top man) making sure we were able to navigate the city in the car (Escalade) and also on foot seeing everything possible. The pace was fast but hey this is NYC and we were keen to see as much as we could. We started at our hotel, went up 5TH avenue taking in the Christmas shop windows and then seeing the tree at the Rockefeller Centre. We also saw amongst others St Patricks Cathedral, the Library, Grand Central, the High Line, Chelsea Market and finished around Hudson Yards. Catherine talked as she walked and had pictures on her IPAD that made it come to life from the past to the present. She innovated well and thought on her feet. At the end she recommended a great Pizza restaurant Simo) near to where we ended and that was excellent. At the end we were buzzing and all agreed we wanted to return to see and hear more.
The tour was personal and it felt like we were given a window into NYC from someone who not only knows the city intimately but also clearly loves it. Yep, we as a family are hooked.
If you go to NYC then look at Levy’s for that bespoke unique experience. Thanks Katherine, Matt, Arkady, Abraham and our concierge Team at the Pierre and everyone involved in making this the best experience ever.
