My son and I spent a half day rock climbing at Garden of the Gods with our guide Molly on Memorial Day 2013. The scenery was beautiful and Molly was an awesome guide. We tackled 3 challenging climbs and Molly made sure all gear was safe and gave us good instruction at every step. I left wishing that we would have booked a longer stay, we had so much fun! Front Range is a class act, and Molly was a lot of fun to hang out with. I would definitey recommend this adventure.

Our 13 year old son has gone climbing with Front Range Climbing on three separate occasions since we moved to Colorado in August 2012. I can honestly say they have been absolutely fabulous. My son (as well as my wife and I) has loved the two different guides we have had. Logan and Darren are passionate and knowledgeable, plus great at teaching. The LOVE what they do and it shows. Our son has learned so much from them. Plus, the guides are great at demonstrating the process for us parents and making us comfortable with the fact that they are helping our son scale a 100+ foot high wall! The Front Range Climbing guides have been really good at assessing my son's abilities and tailoring the climbs for him. Thus, he's gone from beginner climbs to the point where he's ready to leading a climb. Logistically, working with Front Range Climbing is great. They provide not just the guide, but all the equipment as well. The only thing you need to bring is a water bottle, snacks, sunglasses and sunscreen. We've climbed with Front Range Climbing at Garden of the Gods and Red Rock Canyon Open Space (both in Colorado Springs). They are both great places, but we actually liked Red Rock Canyon best because it wasn't as crowded. Again, I can't say enough about Front Range Climbing. The guides have inspired my son so much. They are so encouraging, and he's become more confident because of his experiences. My son still talks about the time at Garden of the Gods when he reached the top of a 160 foot rock peak, and was greeted by cheers from 20-25 people who stopped to watch him. He was so proud. My family has been super impressed with Front Range Climbing. I'd recommend them without reservation for someone interested in climbing.

Yep, this IS as good as it gets! I won't even hesitate to give Front Range Climbing 5 stars. We discovered FRC when we bought a Living Social deal last year ($155 for two people to try a 4-hour into climbing class - included gear, guide and 30-photo CD) and WOW did FRC deliver! My boyfriend and I had never rockclimbed before yesterday and had no idea what to expect. In fact, I'll admit our expectations were pretty low - we went in to this anticipating about an hour of very basic lesson instruction and cautionary messages and then a relatively uneventful climb on safe, easy rocks. Hahaha. NOT. What we actually got was no where NEAR our expectations - it far surpassed them. We met our awesome guide, Molly, and photographer/guide, Patrick, at the main entrance to Garden of the Gods at 8:45 a.m., signed a couple of waivers, picked out appropriate climbing shoes, harnesses and helments and we were off! Molly showed us how to properly knot our rope (which was brand new and strong), we put our equipment on and within about 20 minutes were were climbing (we took turns - one person up and down the rock at a time). Although this was advertised as a beginner/intro class, my boyfriend and I would agree that, to a beginner, it seemed like a hell of alot more than that. We love a good adrenaline rush and this experience definitely delivered. This was a full-body, mental and emotional experience. Molly definitely made us feel comfortable and safe and encouraged us every step of the way - never getting impatient or flustered. As I write this it occurs to me there really is no way to adequately explain how amaaaaaazing this morning was for us. We're very much into exercise and maintaining a certain level of fitness and this sport requires your entire body - you use your shoulders, fingers, hips, toes, knees, calves, hamstrings, forearms, and above all, your mind to climb sheer-faced walls of rock with only the smallest of cracks and crevises to wedge your body parts into and/or balance on. You will really be required to streeeeeeeetch your legs and arms to reach some of the places you need to get to to get higher. What seems impossible is very possible - if you trust your feet and keep your fear in check. You are completely safe but from YOUR perspective up on the rock it seems quite precarious. We LOVED it! Some advice: Plan to feel like you got hit by a truck the next morning. You will use muscles you don't normally use (even if you're a gym rat). DON"T wear running shorts. I'm sorry to say I made this mistake and all of the tourists walking through garden of the gods got a fantastic view of my butt cheeks as the harness yanked my shorts up higher and higher with each tug from Molly 60 feet below. Sorry all! Oh: Curse words may fly out of your mouth uncontrollably. Your heart will race, you will be forced to dig deep for mental control. It's critical to your success that you trust your guide. This sport may be hard on your knees/hips if you've had any surgery on those parts. You will scrape your fingers and knees (war wounds = awesome!). Bring water, snacks, sunglasses, a camera to get shots the photographer might not catch, wear loose-fitting long pants or maybe biking shorts (that go down to just above your knees, bring both a short- and long-sleeved shirt (the temperature seems to fluctuate from cool to hot depending upon the time of year). We were extremely surprised and thrilled to have enough time for three people to make 1, 2 or 3 different climbs in the time we had. We never felt rushed and we left feeling like we really got alot of bang for our buck. Last recommendation: Please tip your guides!! Thanks to Molly and Patrick we will definitely be doing this again soon. Molly suggested trying a climb with FRC in Moab, Utah. We may just do that!
