Get a VIP look at George Washington’s residence as you're led through the mansion by a private guide. During this 1-hour private walking tour, you'll go behind-the-scenes as you hear expert commentary about the United States’ first president and his historic estate. This tour includes some of the gardens and grounds. You'll also have the opportunity to lay a wreath at the Washington family tomb.

Following the private tour, you are welcome to continue your visit with self-guided exploration of the Museum and the Distillery & Gristmill (seasonal).

Flat rate applies for groups of 1 - 10 travelers.

Looking for the opportunity to tour the mansion - the add-on tickets were sold out for our preferred day - I booked this tour. Pricey for just 3 of us but since none of us have been out in the past year and limited time to visit, we plunged in. It wasn’t much different than the regular tour except we got a quick walk through the basement (not part of the regular tour). The 2nd floor was closed due to unexpected issues. Would I recommend this 1 hour tour? No. Just didn’t feel a bang for the bucks. But for our purposes and feeling a bit frivolous, it met our needs. The tour leader is one of the Mt Vernon tour staff and was very knowledgeable. Maybe once all areas are open then maybe I’d give it 4 stars.

Excellent tour guides and with a wealth of information as you stroll through the house. Take a walk around the plantation. Don't forget to visit the museum and watch a movie about GW. The gift shop is top notch.

Our local map society enjoyed a very educational half day with a map donor and museum staff, with much new content in terms of documents, artifacts and videos now on display for the public. Much of it is oriented for high school students and different media are used. We had a good lunch at the Inn and did more touring in the afternoon. Because of the heavy crowds arriving much of the year I advise anyone to inquire when the visitor volume will be lighter, before finalizing plans to visit.
