I booked a solo lesson and I had the most lovely time surfing with instructor Jack. He was kind, personable, and encouraging out on the water. It wasn’t my first time surfing but definitely my first time in many years. I learned new tips for better form. I stood up on my first try! I also enjoyed a few long rides. The Mondos Beach site is truly beginner friendly. Gentle wave and a soft, sandy beach that’s shallow (less scary if you need to jump off the board!). You can get dizzy learning to surf if you get knock off your board a lot but the water was super easy to work with, I was able to last the full session. If you are a female traveling solo, I would recommend SB surf school. I felt comfortable around the staff by the van and with my instructor. It’s also not a super remote beach location, just less crowded. The location has easy access to the road, vacation houses nearby, and I noticed other surfers in the water.

Very good experience. This was my first time surfing and my coach Katie helped me to catch many waves and I was able to stand until the end for many times.
