I would 100% recommend a private wildlife tour with Yellowstone Adventure Tours!
We had an absolute perfect experience with Mitch as our guide, taking us (my wife and I, and our kids ages 5 and 8) around the park for a full day. Over the course of a single day, we saw: 8 bears (3 grizzleys), 2 separate packs of wolves, mountain goats, and countless bison/elk/pronghorn/birds.
I’ve driven around the park on my own in the past and gotten lucky seeing some great wildlife, but it was absolutely worth it to splurge on a private guide - especially with kids. Mitch knew exactly where to go and set up for some amazing spots that we simply never would have found on our own - especially knowing where the wolves were active, and being able to quickly set up the equipment to spot things across the valleys that we would have never known were there. Mitch’s passion for the environment was evident and he had immense expertise about the park and wildlife - 10+ hours can be a long time to spend in a car with someone, and it really was an absolute pleasure just hanging out and learning from Mitch! Along with all the spots we visited during our day together, he had some great tips for lesser known spots to visit during our remaining time in the park.
In addition to the kid-friendly binoculars and equipment for the adults, Mitch had a great attachment for his phone which connected it to the spotting scopes, projecting the live image from the spotting scope on to the phone screen (and capturing pics/video from the scope). This was really amazing to let everyone enjoy watching the same view, and helpful for small kids who can have trouble positioning their eyes just right in a high powered scope. Mitch also had coffee ready to make at every stop, local snacks/lunch that was some of the best food we ate in the park, and was able to cover Gluten Free options for half of our group.
You really couldn’t do better for maximizing your time in the park - and giving yourself the best chance for some once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounters - than using Mitch and his organization!
