I love hop-on-hop-off tours. For me, there is no better way to see a new city and get a history lesson. This tour make convenient stops by all the major hotels - so being able to walk to the corner, purchase a ticket and get on was awesome. The driver was great (I wish I had his name) - he talked and gave great information instead of using the pre-recorded messages. The issue was the wait times. I looked up when the first bus was to be at our stop, did not come at that time. It was also not on that 20 minute schedule. Its hard to plan the day when you can't expect an about time. We got off at the Alamo, toured and had lunch, and waited for the next bus (we are stoked it was the original driver). He let us know that unfortunately, another driver had to leave for medical reasons and the buses would now be running every 30 minutes instead of every 20. I understand - it sounded like this guy was a trooper and really needed to be home.
The real problem was when we got off at our next stop - we timed it from the minute we got off to 20 minutes after to get back there to wait so we didn't miss that bus. After waiting for 20 minutes (so 40 minutes after the bus left) we decided to skip seeing any other sites and walk back to our hotel. Our hotel was the next stop, so we walked along the path the bus would take.. it was a 15 minute walk we got into the hotel bought something from the little store in the lobby, up into our room and sitting when the bus finally made it to that stop (our room overlooked that corner). So what went from being 20 minutes was about 60 minutes. We would up freshening up and just ubering or walking to the other sites we wanted to see instead of using the bus,
